Paradisus Dei (Latin for the Paradise of God) is an organization
of lay Catholics dedicated to finding God in the midst of their
marriages and everyday family life. It began in 1997 simply as
a letter to a friend whose marriage was in trouble and quickly
blossomed into a whole theology relating to the union between
husband and wife. In 1999 five couples began meeting in homes
to discuss this theology in light of Pope John Paul II's Theology
of the Body, St. Maximillian Kolbe's mystical insights into
Our Lady's relationship to the Holy Spirit and Fr. Marie-Dominque
Philippe's contemplative insights into the Gospel of St. John.
During the year of Great Jubilee it became apparent that God
wished this theology to become incarnate in a spirituality that
could transform the home. As a result, these couples began meeting
in their homes on the First Friday of every month to celebrate
Mass, adore Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, receive Reconciliation
and have a fellowship meal. Without realizing it, these coupes
had begun to live their lives as the first Christians had. The
home was truly ecclesia domestica, the domestic church
where God was encountered.
Paradisus Dei simply wishes every family to discover the joy
of God's abiding presence within their home and everyday family
lives. Our message combines the best scientific research on the
family, the teachings of Scripture and the wisdom of the great
mystics. To learn more about Paradisus Dei or become involved
